On 8 January 2017 Dan NA6MG and I activated Occidental Peak W6 CT-098. No snow and a warm day 50F/10C between rain storms
Dan at the helipad
After a nice hike I set up on the summit, Dan a hundred feet back along the path. We both operated on HF, 2m was a bust for me because of high RFI from Mt Wilson, but we found we could work Charles KM6CEM at Dan’s location: he seemed to be in a slight saddle with some shielding from Mt Wilson

On 14 January 2017 I made the half hour hike to Pk 4202 W6 CT-150. Dan went to Mt Emma. I thought there might be snow but there was none here.
It was windy and 50F/10C so I just operated on 2m FM for an hour. I managed to keep out of the worst of the wind by sitting near the mast, shielded by the summit ridge.
I could hear KB9ENS on Mt Vetter CT-021 but he could not hear me with his Baofeng HT. We met up on the Hughes Aircraft club repeater with Brian AB6UI…Tom had only made 1 QSO on 2m and none on 20m SSB 14.347. Brian put out a spot for him and then Tom was able to make about a dozen SSB contacts, making for a successful SOTA activation! Tom had snow on Vetter, he said he had about 75% coverage
